Saturday Meetups at Painted Sky Park
Happy Pets Palace hosts a series of free community meetups through the cooler months, November to March, at Ruff Ranch Dog Park in Apache Junction. The season opens on Saturday, November 21.
Each Saturday is split into groups so dogs play with dogs their own size and age. That split is the whole point. A confident twelve pound terrier and a four month old Bernese puppy both have a much better morning when they are not in the same pack, and both of them learn more from it.
These are supervised community gatherings, not a drop-off service. You stay with your dog, and you are welcome to stay for the whole session.
The Saturday Schedule
8:00 to 9:30 AM, Toy Breeds
Toy breed dogs and puppies of every age, up to 20 pounds. Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Maltese, small poodles, dachshunds and the rest of the tiny warriors. Expect size-appropriate games, prizes, photos and a lot of social time.
10:00 to 11:30 AM, Featured Breed Groups
A different breed group each week, so you meet the people who chose the same breed you did. The opening run is Arctic breeds on November 21, Labradors and Lab mixes on November 28, German Shepherds and Belgian breeds on December 5, then Golden Retrievers, English Creams and retriever mixes on December 12.
12:00 to 1:30 PM, Large-Breed Puppy Social
Large-breed puppies up to six months old, during the developmental window when socialising does the most good. Puppy playtime, basic training tips, games, prizes and photos. When your puppy turns six months, they have graduated.
Who Can Come
- Toy Breed Social. Friendly toy breed dogs and puppies up to 20 pounds, current on vaccinations.
- Large-Breed Puppy Social. Friendly large-breed puppies up to six months old, current on age-appropriate vaccinations and with a negative fecal test.
- Featured breed groups. Dogs of that week’s breed group, current on vaccinations.
- Every participant follows City of Apache Junction dog park rules.
- Cost is free. Please bring water and treats for your dog.

Ruff Ranch Dog Park at Painted Sky Park in Apache Junction. The exact address and the start time for your group are on the calendar entry for that date, so check the date you are coming to before you set off.
