Dog Boarding – A Touch of Home

When dogs board for the first time, they can feel happy and adaptable, especially when they have a touch of home with them. Here are some tips for having a great overnight dog boarding experience. Knowing your dog is safe, well cared for, and having fun will help you enjoy your trip even more.

Choose the Right Facility

First, check around at pet boarding facilities in your area or along the route if you’re headed to the airport. Do price comparisons on what is included in the dog boarding service. Cost is important and it can add up. Some facilities offer low base prices but tack on additional charges for services like potty breaks or daycare. The initial price might not cover everything your dog needs during boarding. It’s important to check beforehand to avoid unexpected fees and ensure you know what’s included.

Bring Familiar Comforts

To give your dog a sense of home, bring their favorite toys, blankets, and their cozy bed along. These familiar items can help them feel more comfortable during their stay. Having that extra touch from home will help them relax and feel safe with their familiar things. And you’ll be happy knowing their stuffed animal is there with them to share in dreaming adventures. If your dog sleeps in your bed, consider bringing a recently worn sweatshirt to provide a familiar scent. Additionally, our cuddle-time sessions during boarding include belly rubs and forehead kisses. This makes your pup feel extra special and comfortable in their private villa. We always enjoy talking with them like humans because they are part of our family too.

Tailored Meals and Treats

Prepare and bring your dog’s meals like they would eat at home. Maybe even spice up their meals with treats or meal toppers. You can add tasty items such as pumpkin, bananas, blueberries, shredded cheese, green beans, or low-sodium broths for picky eaters. Some dogs eat eagerly and devour their meals quickly. Treats can be a delightful addition for all vacationing pups, even for quick eaters. We always smile when parents pack treats or snacks to add to mealtime for their pups. A little treat is extra special to a dog. Similar to how going out for ice cream is a special treat for humans. Yum!

Maintaining Routine

Dogs are used to their routines. Most dogs go potty first thing in the morning, before bed, and several times a day in between. And they do their potty business outside (hopefully). We offer multiple inside/outside play yards, and we always encourage the dogs to follow us outside to go potty. We know most dogs do not want to “potty in the house” and are trained to go potty outside. It is important to keep up their good habits and training to go outside to potty.

Potty Breaks Before Bed

Happy Pets Palace is the only facility that includes an outside 10 pm potty break for overnight boarding dogs. We check on each and every dog during that time and give them some extra petting. Yes, in addition to potty breaks outside during daytime daycare, having that 10 pm potty break is a big deal. Every boarding dog gets an opportunity for that last chance potty before they settle in for the night. Most pet parents let their dog out to go potty at home around that same time. So, keeping up their routine and good habit is a plus. We have always included the 10 pm outside potty break, for free, for all boarding dogs. The dogs show their appreciation with their eyes that they won’t have to wait until morning to relieve themselves. It’s a beautiful thing for everyone.

Extra Care and Attention

Doggy daycare is always included with overnight dog boarding at Happy Pets Palace. The weather in Arizona is perfect for enjoying fresh air and outside playtime with all the dogs. Shade structures in the summer and above-ground splash pools or hose play are a definite must. Some dogs really go nuts for hose play and filling the pools can be a pretty wild time with water dancing hose movements. Having the outside space to enjoy the water play is a great way to tire out an active puppy who has a lot of energy. Water play also makes great pictures for social media, so be sure to check out pics on Instagram and Facebook.

Trained pet care professionals watching after your dogs while you are out of town should be shouted from the rooftops. Details matter! Making sure dogs are secure and safe is of utmost importance. We are in the business to keep your dogs safe, entertained, and fully under our care during their stay. So, no need to worry about someone leaving your backyard gate open at home, or not showing up because the kid next door overslept or canceling at the 9th hour as you are leaving for the airport.

We have heard many stories of what can and has happened when dogs were left in the care of neighborhood friends and even family. We offer a true sense of dependability and reliability and, when it comes to our dogs which are worth more to us than gold, that should not be taken for granted. Our dogs are one of a kind and irreplaceable.

Peace of Mind with Live Webcams

Live webcams motivate some people to drive more than 2 hours to board their dog(s) at a facility where the level of care and trust is apparent from their first initial meet and greet. Live stream webcams allow you to check in on your dog to see what they’re doing, and it is so much fun. It’s wonderful to see your dog playing with their friends or getting lovin’ from a pet care specialist, and the live stream webcams provide that peace of mind and reassurance that you made a good choice.

Happy Pets Palace provides live webcams in all our play yards inside and outside, plus some overnight boarding pet parents choose to upgrade to have camera view 24/7 by reserving a villa with camera access. Even if your dog is sleeping soundly, it can bring a smile to your face seeing them all snuggled in their bed and looking content. That is the reassurance we as pet parents need to be able to have a worry-free dog boarding experience.
